Program description
The Campus Year Abroad is a long-term intensive general English program for students who wish to improve their English language proficiency for everyday living in a campus-based program. You will spend six to nine months developing your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills while learning about American culture and experiencing life on a U.S. university campus. You can choose between programs of 21 lessons per week or 27 lessons per week from beginner to advanced levels and take advantage of a rich co-curricular program of activities that offers contact with American students and other native speakers of English in the Corvallis area.

You will focus on developing communicative skills for everyday life and at intermediate and advanced levels, you will work on refining language skills for professional or personal use. Students are grouped according to language level.

Program aims:

  • To provide high quality English language instruction that helps you improve all aspects of your English language ability
  • to develop your ability and confidence in speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, pronunciation and social communication
  • to provide a program of sufficient duration for you to make significant progress in English language skill development
  • to cater to students of different levels of English language ability – from beginner to advanced
  • to enable you to adjust to the demands, challenges and expectations of living, working, or studying in the U.S.
  • to provide an introduction to local, regional and national culture through a wide range of activities and events.

Core skills:
You will develop knowledge, skills and confidence in the key areas of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, social English, listening, speaking, reading, writing, American culture, discussion, presentation skills and independent study.
