Studying in the USA

Health and safety
The Student Health Plan is a comprehensive insurance policy created especially for international students in the US. It covers you during your entire trip (as well as the journey there and back), and provides full health and medical insurance. Health and medical insurance is mandatory for all INTO Oregon State University students. As a result the Student Health Plan will automatically be added to course fees unless proof of alternative coverage is provided.

Cost
Academic English tuition fees are $4,450 per term. Summer teacher training workshops cost $2,574. Depending on the number of lessons and weeks enrolled, campus year abroad programs range from $5,640 to $9,720 and General English fees from $245 to $370 per week.

Tuition fees for the pathways programs are $19,420 for business and general programs (3 terms) and $20,720 for science and engineering programs (4 terms).

Accommodation charges range from $233 to $316 per week depending on the meal plan selected.

Students should budget approximately $350 per 11 week term to participate fully in excursions and other activities.

Miscellaneous fees total approximately $200 per enrolment.

Visa and immigration
With your letter of admission you will receive an I-20 form from Oregon State University. This form must be submitted to the US Embassy in your home country along with the completed non-immigrant visa application, form DS-156, and the form DS-158. Read more about student visas for the United States here.

Once you arrive at INTO our student services team will be available to provide information, support and guidance on renewing your student visa and making sure your I-20 is always current. Immigration workshops are held throughout the year and individual appointments can be made for private visa-related discussions.

Transport
INTO's Oregon State University headquarters is located near downtown Corvallis, with shopping and entertainment venues nearby. There is a shuttle bus service on campus, as well as a city bus system which provides transport around the city, and connects to a nearby Amtrak train that can be taken to Portland and beyond.

Working in the US
Most colleges and universities have established affiliate schemes with employers and researchers in different fields of study, creating opportunities for students to obtain invaluable work experience. Many universities even require students to obtain practical training in order to graduate.
